LAKESHORE RECORDS PRESENTS TWO VOLUMES OF MUSIC FROM
HANNIBAL SEASON 2

Featuring Original Music By Brian Reitzell

(August 18, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release two new volumes of music from the hit NBC television series HANNIBAL, composed by Brian Reitzell (LOST IN TRANSLATION, BOSS). The HANNIBAL SEASON TWO Volumes 1 & 2 Original TV Soundtracks will be available digitally on September 2nd and on CD September 23, 2014.   As with the two volumes of music from season one, released digitally August 5th and on CD September 2nd, each track on these two albums is a suite of music from an episode of the series.

“In this second season of HANNIBAL each episode is named after a Japanese food course,” said Reitzell.  “It kind of gave me the opportunity to exploit my deep affection with Japanese films.”

Over the last decade and a half, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and music supervisor Brian Reitzell has been on a mission to further elevate the layer that music adds to a film’s life. He has created his own unique method of scoring films, drawing equally from his experience as a recording and touring musician with bands such as Redd Kross and Air, and his massive knowledge of recorded music.

LAKESHORE RECORDS PRESENTS
HOUDINI ORIGINAL TELEVISON SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Original Music By John Debney

(August 14, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the HOUDINI – Original Television Soundtrack Volumes 1 and 2 digitally on August 26th and on CD September 30, 2014. The album features original music by John Debney (Sin City, The Passion Of The Christ).

“I would best describe the HOUDINI score as Industrial Rock meets Gypsy rooted mystery,” said Debney.  “Uli Edel gave Houdini such a stylish and über-contemporary look. His attention to detail was impeccable and high spirit of creativity was infectious!”

Academy Award-nominated John Debney seemed destined for a career in Hollywood. The son of Disney Studios producer Louis Debney (Zorro, The Mickey Mouse Club), Debney grew up in nearby Glendale, where he began guitar lessons at age six and played in rock bands in college. After college, he entered into the business with the help of television composing legend Mike Post (The Rockford Files, Law And Order). Debney furthered his hands-on training by working with Hanna-Barbera composer Hoyt Curtin. He began scoring television projects as diverse as Star Trek: The Next Generation, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and Sea Quest DSV, for which he won an Emmy for Best Main Title. In 1993 he secured his first studio feature film, the Disney comedy Hocus Pocus starring Bette Midler.

VARÈSE SARABANDE RECORDS TO RELEASE LIFE OF CRIME SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Original Music By The Newton Brothers

(August 18, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Varèse Sarabande Records will release LIFE OF CRIME – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and will be available as a disc-on-demand, date TBA. The soundtrack features the original score composed by The Newton Brothers (OCULUS, PROXY).  LIFE OF CRIME opens in theaters, on demand, and on iTunes on August 29, 2014.

“This movie is really a dark comedy,” said Taylor Newton. “But it has moments of tension, suspense and even some romance. Overall the director, Daniel Schecter, was very minimalistic in his approach to music, for a lot of the scenes we had to pull way back. It was mainly about having a cool groove or riff, and keeping it super simple.”

CRAIG SAFAN PRESENTED WITH THE
BASIL POLEDOURIS AWARD FOR A FILM MUSIC LEGEND AT
INTERNATIONAL FILM MUSIC FESTIVAL OF THE PROVINCE OF CÓRDOBA

Special 30th Anniversary Recording of THE LAST STARFIGHTER to be Released This Fall

(August 14, 2014—Santa Monica, CA)  Composer Craig Safan was surprised last month with the presentation of the Basil Poledouris Award For A Film Music Legend while conducting his music at the International Film Music Festival of the Province of Córdoba on Thursday, July 24, 2014.  The presentation was made before a special encore featuring the premiere of The REMO WILLIAMS OVERTURE, conducted by Safan.

At the festival, which took place in Córdoba Spain from July 23-27th, Safan gave a lecture to students of the workshop program, was interviewed as part of a Q&A panel for festival attendees, and signed autographs.  He surprised the guests with news that his scores for both THE LAST STARFIGHTER and REMO WILLIAMS will be re-released by Intrada Records later this year.  Upcoming releases also include a double vinyl version of WARNING SIGN to be released by Invada Records.

"I was about to go back out on stage and conduct the encore when suddenly everything stopped and it was announced that I was to be given the Poledouris Award.  I was totally surprised and deeply moved by the reception I was given by the audience and the film music fans.  It was truly one of the happiest moments in my life… even if it’s a little weird being a ‘legend’!"

Craig Safan has composed the music for over thirty feature films including MR. WRONG, STAND AND DELIVER, MAJOR PAYNE, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET IV, REMO WILLIAMS, and THE LAST STARFIGHTER.  For the small screen, Craig is best known for his work as the composer for the series CHEERS for which he was awarded eight ASCAP Top TV awards, as well as for his music for LIFE GOES ON, which earned Safan an EMMY® nomination.

VARÈSE SARABANDE RECORDS TO RELEASE BATES MOTEL SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Original Music By Chris Bacon

(August 13, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Varèse Sarabande Records will release BATES MOTEL – Original Television Series Soundtrack digitally and on CD August 25, 2014. The soundtrack features the original score composed by Chris Bacon (SOURCE CODE, SMASH).  BATES MOTEL will premeire its third season in 2015.

“In my early conversations with the show’s producers about the score’s direction, they made it clear that we are not trying to re-create or pay homage to the original PSYCHO, which was good news because that’s one of the most iconic and recognizable scores of all time and my attempts to emulate would most likely come across as a cheap imitation,” explained Bacon.  “BATES MOTEL is not so much a horror show as a psychological drama with real elements of emotion, tension, humor, as well as some horrific events. The tightrope has been trying to play the real emotion between Norma and Norman while maintaining just enough discomfort to underplay the dysfunctional elements of their relationship.”

BATMAN: ASSAULT ON ARKHAM ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
TO BE RELEASED BY LA-LA LAND RECORDS

Composed by Robert J. Kral

(August 6, 2014 - Burbank, CA) – La-La Land Records will release the soundtrack for BATMAN: ASSAULT ON ARKHAM composed by Robert J. Kral (SUPERMAN: DOOMSDAY, DUCK DODGERS) on CD August 26, 2014.  This limited edition CD (1500 units) will contain 4 exclusive tracks not available elsewhere.

“BATMAN: ASSAULT ON ARKHAM marks a departure from what we normally do from a music standpoint,” said director Jay Olivia. “We usually do the operatic epic music that we’ve all become accustomed to in the live action and animated comic book films for the last twenty five years…. James Tucker, my producer, was very supportive of the idea of doing a more contemporary take on the superhero music and when Rob sent us his first pass of the score, we were tremendously pleased.”
