MASTERWORKS BROADWAY CELEBRATES SUMMER
WITH CLASSIC ALBUMS RELEASED ON CD FOR THE FIRST TIME

Roslyn Kind – Give Me You/This is Roslyn Kind - Available July 22

On the Town - Original London Cast Recording - Available August 19

Masterworks Broadway releases two classic albums from the archives previously unavailable on CD – Roslyn Kind – Give Me You/This is Roslyn Kind (July 22) and On the Town - Original London Cast Recording (August 19).

On a late spring morning in 1968, seventeen-year-old Roslyn Kind graduated from high school in Brooklyn and immediately began a new job later the same day. “I graduated to ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ in the morning,” she recalls, “and that evening I was in RCA Studio B, down around 23rd Street in Manhattan, making my first recording.”  Kind’s two RCA albums Give Me You and This Is Roslyn Kind are fascinating time capsules from a period – 1968-69 – when American popular music was undergoing seismic changes. There is a bit of Broadway to be heard, but most of the material reflects Kind’s own taste and then-current trends in popular music. Kind rarely looked back to the albums that started her career, until 2014. At the behest of her director, she began to sing some of the material from Give Me You and This Is Roslyn Kind in her live act. Audiences loved it. “It was a surprise to me that I could return to this,” Kind says. “But people love the vintage material. They love to know your history.” Give Me You/This Is Roslyn Kind, available for the first time on CD and together for one price, will be released exclusively for purchase via MasterworksBroadway.com on July 22 in a limited quantity of Manufacture-On-Demand CDs as well as digital download.  The CD will be available through Arkiv Music on August 19, plus streaming and downloads via digital service providers the same day.

MASTERWORKS BROADWAY JUNE RELEASE

Ed Ames’ Opening Night / More I Cannot Wish You
Available on CD for the First Time June 17

The legendary Broadway producer George Abbott once said that Ed Ames’s voice was one of the finest he had heard on the legitimate stage. After success as a member of The AmesBrothers – the multi-platinum vocal quartet and popular TV fixture – Ames turned his attention to acting and a solo vocal career. His acting career took off as he landed roles in the Broadway production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks and the role of “Mingo” in the TV series Daniel Boone. Opening Night, a collection of songs from Broadway musicals recorded in 1964 was his first solo recording and includes “Try to Remember” from The Fantasticks, his first charted single. Several years later, he followed up with the album More I Cannot Wish You, another collection of Broadway favorites that includes “The Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” from The Sound of Music. Opening Night / More I Cannot Wish You, available together for one price, will be released exclusively for purchase via MasterworksBroadway.com on June 17 in a limited quantity of Manufacture-On-Demand CDs as well as digital download.  The CD will be available through Arkiv Music on July 14, plus downloads through digital service providers the same day.
