LAKESHORE RECORDS PRESENTS
DEAR WHITE PEOPLE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Songs by Hopsin, Kissey, Caught A Ghost, and Blackface, Sean Wyze and Poetik Force

(October 16, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the DEAR WHITE PEOPLE – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on October 21st and on CD November 18, 2014. The soundtrack features hot songs by Hopsin, Starchild & The New Romantic, Mibbs, and Caught a Ghost.

Winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival’s Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent, DEAR WHITE PEOPLE is a sly, provocative satire of race relations in the age of Obama. Writer/director Justin Simien follows a group of African American students as they navigate campus life and racial politics at a predominantly white college in a sharp and funny feature film debut that earned him a spot on Variety’s annual “10 Directors to Watch.”

The unexpected election of activist Samantha White (Tessa Thompson) as head of a traditionally black residence hall sets up a college campus culture war that challenges conventional notions of what it means to be black. While Sam leverages her notoriety as host of the provocative and polarizing radio show ”DEAR WHITE PEOPLE” to try to prevent the college from diversifying Armstrong Parker House, outgoing head-of-house Troy Fairbanks (Brandon P. Bell), son of the university’s dean (Dennis Haysbert), defies his father’s lofty expectations by applying to join the staff of Pastiche, the college’s influential humor magazine. Lionel Higgins (Tyler James Williams), an Afro-sporting sci-fi geek, is recruited by the otherwise all-white student newspaper to go undercover and write about black culture—a subject he knows little about—while the aggressively assimilated Coco Conners (Teyonah Parris) tries to use the controversy on campus to carve out a career in reality TV.

SPARKS & SHADOWS TO RELEASE THE C.O.W.L. SESSIONS
FEATURING ORIGINAL MUSIC COMPOSED BY JOE CLARK

“American history gets overhauled in C.O.W.L., a new series about the superhero labor union of 1960s Chicago that’s been described as Mad Men meets Avengers.” – The Hollywood Reporter

(October 14, 2014 – Culver City, CA) Sparks & Shadows announces the release of THE C.O.W.L. SESSIONS soundtrack digitally on October 28, 2014.  THE C.O.W.L. SESSIONS is the audio companion to the first five issues of the hit comic book series C.O.W.L., created by Kyle Higgins & Alec Siegel, with art by Rod Reis (who also contributes the cover art for the album).  The recording features original music by Joe Clark.

The gritty style and era of the comic (1962) lends itself to the bebop jazz of the era.  “Before Kyle started the book, he told me the story he had in mind and talked about the musical mood of the project,” said Clark. “Kyle is very musically savvy and had a lot of thoughtful ideas for the sound of the world — even before he wrote the first draft!”

NIGHTCRAWLER ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Original Music By James Newton Howard

(October 8, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the NIGHTCRAWLER – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on October 14, 2014, and on CDOctober 28, 2014. The album features original music by James Newton Howard (BLOOD DIAMOND, MALEFICENT).

“It’s a score by James Newton Howard that recalls the hypnotic melodies he composed for Michael Mann’s COLLATERAL– another City of Angels noir set during the wee hours of the night, and for which this film feels like a distant, crazy cousin.” says the Hollywood Reporter.

"Excellent moody score" says Indiewire.com.

NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.

ROB continued, “I think the fact that we are the same age, and come from the same background helps us to create together very naturally, without having to explain everything. We share the same sensitive vision of darkness and fear, something very that’s both naïve and innocent.”
